Enjoyed a few hours in my art cabin just pottering. I chopped one of my favourite prints ( a slight second print) ‘Whispering Leaves’ in two and it’s lovely to see how well they work as two separate pieces. Also ‘My Allotment’ had a chop and works well as a smaller print too. Will do some prints single colour and others with a jigsaw piece to add green for the leaves and yellow details for the flower centres. This detailed Muscari print was a special commission piece. The lovely pot of Muscari was the brief, after many sketches I used two Linos, one for the flowers and one for the leaves. I then combined the blue flowers and the wild leaves with a bit more careful carving and registration. Each flower was then hand painted with a tiny brush to capture the white petal details. Very rewarding to hand over the print today ❤️#linocut #linocutprint #printmaker #printmakersofinstagram #handmade #muscari #floralprint #springtime #springflowers

First glimpse of a new hellebore print in a rich burgundy. Nice paint sound effect ! Enjoyed a walk in the sunshine and spotted a clump of lovely hellebore. I may make this into a lime green and pink reduction print. Super productive printmaking Tuesday in my cabin ! I’m starting to make collections of prints and thought that Lily of the Valley, Nasturtiums, Snowdrops and Heart would look lovely together. I’ll try a few more colours too- would welcome any colour suggestions. I’m onto the third layer of a Tulip reduction print. It’s challenging working in reverse and making the right reductions! In college all day tomorrow and then at RHS Wisley Gallery on Thursday. Here it is as promised - huge golden yellow sunflower linocut hand printed onto Lokta paper. The print is so big it won’t fit onto my A3 press ! Printed into Nepalese Lokta paper, it’s sustainable handmade paper made from the inner fibrous bark from the evergreen shrub which is abundant in supply. This makes it a highly sustainable resource. It’s also has a beautiful texture and I think it works really well with the sunflower. Lots of textures and lots of sunshine ☀️ yellow for early February. IT’S OFFICIAL! I am over the moon, so excited and thrilled to announce that my linocut botanical prints are now in the RHS Wisley Gallery.
I have spent over twenty years visiting RHS Wisley Gardens and never in my wildest dreams did I think my prints could be on display. Many of my prints are inspired by flowers that I sketch at Wisley- the Echinacea prints in teal and cerise and the pink Hibiscus prints are two examples. My daughters were taken to Wisley every week for their first ten years, enjoying the beautiful grounds, flowers and the glasshouse. It is such a huge honour to join such a talented group of creatives.
